Sewing machine bobbin is acting up

To this point I have broken 3 (THREE!!!) needles on a gear hammock project. The string from the bobbin bunches up and the fabric cant move.

And I only hear when its too late that this is happening. All ideas welcome.

Is the bobbin in the machine backwards?
    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

In case anyone else runs into this kind of problem: double-check your thread path. I was missing a thread guide and the needle was then not doing any stitchibg (which made the bobbin thread loose).

Double checked that and changed the bobbin for good measure.

Changed stitch pattern from.a zig-zag to straight and that stopped the needles from breaking but not from jamming the machine.

Rechecked the top thread path.and did an extensice.test on scrap fabric and it was allll good. thank you for the help @mileage and @jellyfish
