    Hammock Fabric Comparisons

    Hello all.

I was looking to buy a Dutch Chameleon and wondered what the difference in Hexon 1.6 and Argon 1.6 as far as comfort or feel. Ive been using a dream hammock made with dual layer Hyper D 1.6. I find that I prefer how my old ENO doublenest feels to the Hyper D. I was wondering if there was a comparison chart somewhere charting all the new and different hammock fabrics that are out there?

    Thanks so much,
    Steven

No charts that I know of. It's all very subjective anyway.

I have no experience with argon 1.6 or ENO's. Generally, in terms of firmness I'd say that argon 1.6 would be the softest, then hexon 1.6, then the double layer hyperd 1.6. Single layer hyperd 1.6 is slightly softer than the hexon 1.6. I have no idea where the ENO would fall.

A double layer 1.6oz HyperD is very stiff. Even a 1.0oz HyperD double layer hammock has less stretch than many people like. I love it

If you want a double layer hammock that has more stretch, don't look at the 1.6oz fabrics. Although 1.6oz Argon has quite a bit more stretch than 1.6oz Hexon, you won't be able to feel much of that unless you have the weight to make it stretch. I think you would be happy with a 1.0oz Hexon double layer hammock.

If you want a single layer, both the 1.6oz Argon as well as the 1.6oz Hexon have a lot more stretch than two layers of 1.6oz HyperD. Both have a very nice touch; the main difference is the stretch. Of all 40D fabric I have tried, Argon has the most stretch by far. The 1.6oz Hexon is close to the 1.6oz HyperD, although it is quite a bit more beefy.
