Video: Head to head comparison of the Amok Draumr and the 90 Degree Gamma

I finally found some time to get this video edited. It's been a crazy summer. We pulled out the Draumr and the 90 degree hammock to see how they compare to one another. Both are pretty rad. What do you guys think?

Great tip. The Amok is so adjustable, I'm sure there are all sorts of ways to make it comfortable. It's very well thought out.

That's a great intro to the 90 degree hammocks. I'm a GE hanger all the way, but now you've got me interested in the 90's.

    Thanks for the review.

Thanks Cab. I too love my GE but lately I've only been reaching for the 90 degree. This might change in the winter when I have to rely on a pad for insulation. I much prefer a UQ

with the amok/90 degree the pad is firmly in place tho. doesn't move. imo easier to not develop a drafty spot than a hung UQ.

that being said, I've not had my amok down in wicked cold temps, maybe -5

Great video. Agree with most of it, other than the bug net, but to each his own! Curious if you tried both styles of pads in the 90 degree? I only have vertical pads. Do you notice much difference?

I've tried several different pads and no pad at all. There is a difference in the way the pad interacts with the body. The horizontal baffles tend to conform more to the body, whereas the vertical seem to keep their shape.

What part about the bug net did you disagree with? Just curious.

Thanks for the thoughts on the pads. I might pick up a different style to try out. I don't have the Amok anymore. Just the 90 degree(s).

I agree with everything you said about the 90 degree bugnet. I wish it was retractable. For me, the fact that the Amok bug net is retractable is the one and only good thing about it. I love that it can be stowed away, but I was never able to figure out how to keep the **** thing off my head. I'd be sitting there with this wide open space of bug net in front of me and its hitting the back of my head. The little pull out worked a little, but not a good solution imho. Where I live, bugs are a reality so this was an annoyance. The 90 degree has you completely enclosed and nowhere near touching you anywhere.

I will buy the 2.0 ....have three 1.0 90 degree(s), so all the familiy can hang properly.

I have the Amok also....and I prefer the 90 degree.
