The Best New Hammocks - Backpacker Magazine

REI, Nemo, Clark, Sea to Summit, Grand Trunk, Klymit, Eno

Warbonnet, Dutchware, Dream, etc. did not make the list. Or they didn't spend $185K in advertising last year...not sure which

Yeah, lots of magazines are hurting in general. It's nice to have something in your hands now and then, but when it's 50% ads it just doesn't matter. I felt bad since my wife got me this subscription for my birthday...I got 3 issues so far and thumbed thru them twice briefly. Little relevant content unless you live out west, but I guess if you did you already know about the cool places to hike.

I always assumed that too, but on the leading page they say "Consider 2017 the year of the hammock...manufactured by niche brands and major companies alike." So they seem to know about them, but can't/won't/don't want to even mention others.

That just goes to show that the majority of the readers of that magazine most likely do not know about Hammock Forums. It definitely shows the writers don't. We need to send an invite to these guys to join us here but they'ed probably not want to as they would loose the readers once they see the light.

Don't want to get too big IMO! Let them continue to do what they do.

And I don't have anything against the big companies. I've tried so many hammocks but ended up with a Grand Trunk as my goto. It just fits me like a glove.

What is sad is their readers will read and make purchases based on the mags articles. Sad because there are so many other choices..not better or worse just different...that the readers could look at to improve their comfort.

So true. Hammock Forums needs to take an ad out in that advertising magazine as the content has gone to pot

Right? Let's just keep this to ourselves. The person wanting to seriously hammock camp will come to us naturally. Most likely after an unsatisfactory first weekend in any of the above options.
