    Robic 1.2 hammock

Well, here it is. Possibly the first 1.2 Robic hammock in existence?
I went with one of the new colors, Foliage.

My pictures aren't doing the color justice. In reality, it looks like charcoal gray and dark olive had a baby. I really like the color.

For reference, I held it up next to my other Robic hammocks (1.0 charcoal and 1.7 dark olive). Closer to the gray than dark olive.

As far as performance, it is right where I wanted it to be. Slightly firmer than 1.0 and definitely stretchier than 1.7.

Big thanks to Jared at Simply Light Designs on the quick turnaround (that's kind of his thing, right?).

Mine is finished at 11' x 65" and has mini pack hooks for underquilt retention.

Will take more pics later. It started pouring right as I got the hammock hung.

Very nice. I think my 8 yards of fabric arrives in today's mail.

If I work all afternoon, maybe I can have the first DIY 1.2 ROBIC hammock?! LOL

I think you would! Even though I have access to it all day long, I have been too lazy to make a hammock from it. I have 4 yards of purple haze saved for a special project, though. Look forward to your feedback on the fabric.

It seems to be very nice fabric and handled real well for the first one we built.

That's some great looking kit. Very curious to know how the 1.2 works out on feel and durability. Thanks for the look

Forgot to snap a pic to show colors under a different light- but my 50 yds came in today. All the colors are very rich and pretty deep, not as shimmery as the 1.7 but that's to be expected in the lighter weight.
I was almost thinking I got charcoal instead of foliage as it is much as foxpoop described.
The orange is pretty close to the 1.7, the coyote and dark olive are a bit deeper (darker). The glacier is a nice papa smurf blue, lol.
I was looking forward to the foliage being more of a brighter sage/grey color. (would look sweet next to olive yellow)
First run complaint... but I don't see it as enough of contrast between the dark olive and grey to call it a winner IMO out of the 5 colors I got. But for earth tone lovers the coyote and dark olive are very nice and pop well against the burnt orange for those considering a double layer.

No complaint on the rounding... but I came up with closer to 1.145 than 1.2 oz/yard for my fellow gram weenies, lol.

I plan on doing 5- 11' GE's to get a good feel for it and then playing with it for bridges. (email me if somebody wants one).
I put my medium sized bridge on hold waiting for this fabric and expect it to do as well as the 1.7 hybrid for bridges. I'd expect a pretty solid 225lb limit on these... maybe even in my micro bridge too. Really looking forward to trying that out and potentially pushing these to 15 ounces including spreader bars for a 175-225lbs comfort rated bridge is exciting for me!

But all that said- screw sewing them today- I'm heading out to camp.
But I suspect that Kyle has another winner in his hands. This will likely really shine for 200-225lb folks looking for a lighter GE and absolutely kill it for UL bridges. The Hybrid weave concept is a real winner and glad the wait is finally over, lol.

NOW... .7 Hybrid weave robic please! .82 finished weight or so. Do a one color test run... Not a huge market but I'm still making some Membrane 10 hammocks for folks but the taffeta finish is a concern. The .7 pure robic came out a little too plastic feeling and much like this I think the hybrid weave with a narrow denier difference margin (7/20?) would clean up the Robic 7d for use as a hammock fabric too. I know that wasn't the intention of the 7D Robic per say... but it could be as a hybrid IMO. The pure 1.0 robic didn't have quite as extreme a problem on the feel but I never liked it for anything but the micro bridge or a double layer GE. So that true gram weenie SUL hammock fabric is still waiting to be pulled from your magic loom.

    Complete the trilogy, lol.
1.7, 1.2 and .85 hybrid weave would cover just about every hanger and every application. I really think the hybrid weave concept is a clear advantage and potential flagship fabric unique to RBTR. Bridges really highlight weaknesses in fabric in my experience and between 350+ guys and folks shooting holes in it and laying on it for weeks without failures you're making my job easy! I've seen lots of blowouts in Dutch's stuff and some of the hyperD line but so far not a hint of trouble with the 1.7 Hybrid in the bridges.

Keep pushing Kyle and thanks for this latest innovation.

Cool, so you work with the 0.5 netting? Is it the NS50 from RSBTR?
