    When the wife's away...

So my wife went out of town this weekend for a surprise birthday party for her grandmother. What that really means is three nights in the hammock for me.

I dunno...no tarp, bug net, or underquilt - kinda feels like you are cheating

I will admit it is the lazy man's setup.

EXACTLY my first thought! Lol! I'd be interested in seeing a picture of the anchoring points. My wife wouldn't go for this in the living room, but I've got my own den and could easily hang in there anytime I want.

Technically, the hammock is in my office. I'm in grad school right now and do a lot of reading, so I figured what better way to read than in a hammock? Though I was sleeping in my camping hammock, I have a basic gathered end in there on most days for normal lounging/reading. Turns out my wife actually loves my reading hammock, especially since it's not in any of the other rooms.

I have it hung with two heavy duty stainless steel eye hooks that I picked up from Home Depot. I was very careful to mount them in the dead center of the studs and they've held up to near daily use (lounging/reading) for several months now. For reference, I'm around 175# so I don't know how well they would hold with higher weights. However, they haven't given the slightest indication of moving or failure since I put them in. Here are a few pics of the setup (though I don't use the carabiners anymore).

I have the same eye-bolt setup in my bedroom. They've been there for around 2 years now... They seem very secure so far!

Enjoy your nights in the hammock! I know I enjoy every night on mine!
    I'd rather be hanging.

Thanks for the pics. I'll have to contemplate this one, as I'm 250 lbs so not sure if those eye bolts would be a good option or not. Still, love your set up. That's awesome.
