I am in a similar position, love my little tent but hate the pad/mat. I am in Cali and many areas do not have trees or do not allow any cordage/straps on the trees (I'm still figuring out the exceptions, San Jacinto State Park/Wilderness Area seems to be one of them) so I will still need an alternative to hanging but as of now, I worked out a hammock system that works for me. I'm so happy for you (and me)!

Very nice video. A couple of savage beasts in there for sure. Glad it worked out. Now just a view more hangs and you'll have it all figured out. Take care.
