VIDEO: Hexon 1.0 Vs. Hexon 1.6 Comparison/Sag Test

Ever since I was able to pick up a Hexon 1.6 chameleon (for my wife) I have been pretty curious as to how the two fabrics compare – and because I’m rich in chameleons at the moment I did just that!

I gathered up my wife and brother, two DW chameleons (one in Hexon 1.0, another in Hexon 1.6), and performed some testing to measure the degree of sag in each hammock and then collected their general thoughts on each hammock fabric, what they liked, etc.

Interestingly, my wife did not sag differently, nor feel differently in the 1.0 vs. the 1.6. This was not the case as my brother and myself (similar in weight) sagged (and felt) noticeably differently in the 1.0 vs. the 1.6. My brother and I both sagged 23% closer to the ground in the 1.0 vs. the 1.6. (8.5 inches from the ground vs. 11 inches from the ground) This might be why I can sleep so much better on my side in this hammock?

Yes. I've used both Hexon 1.0 and 1.6 for over a year now. It's common knowledge that the 1.0 has noticeably more stretch to it than 1.6. Thanks for quantifying it with data though.

Thanks for sharing Schillke! I have a 1.0 and I've kicked around the idea of picking up a 1.6 as well. If I'm not in the Chameleon I'm generally using a DIY HyperD 1.6 hammock. I have found that for me, the 1.0 is less tolerant of an imperfect hangs. When I have it dialed in just right it's GOLD. However, occasionally I find that I can't quite get it right. Again, thanks for sharing! (You might consider picking up a Lav or shotgun mic. At times the audio was hard to hear.)

How does your HyperD compare to the Hexon? Is it stiffer? And is it more forgiving to an imperfect hang?

The Hexon 1.0 is much better for side sleeping for me. I think because I sink more into the fabric it helps with the side lay. Has anyone else experienced that? It is a significant improvement for me.

Great video, I have a 2.4 and may end up trying out the 1.6. My back tends to kill me if I don't have a nice firm lay, hell I sleep better sleeping on a floor than I do a bed that is too soft.
