How Much Amsteel for Tablecloth Hammock?

I am about to order supplies to make two tablecloth hammocks. How much amsteel do I need to make two tablecloth hammocks? And can anyone recommend a specific one? The options on Amazon are extremely confusing. Better yet, if anyone knows of a store that carries amsteel for reasonable prices, I would prefer to shop in person. We have REI, Bass Pro, ****'s and Academy in this area as well as the usual hardware stores.

Or do I even need amsteel to tie them? If something else is safe and inexpensive, that would be even better.

If you are looking for something to tie up the whipping at the ends, most any cheap cord will work, since it isn't exposed to much stress. Sheathing from paracord is nice. (I prefer running a continuous loop of Amsteel thru sewn channel, but YMMV)

If, on the other hand, you're talking about whoopie slings or UCR's, then 7/64" Amsteel from Dutchwaregear.com or other places is what I'd use.

As for amount, it depends on how you answer the above.

As mentioned almost any cordage will do for the whipping. For suspension you need about 13 feet of amsteel to make a 6 foot whoopie sling so 52 feet is a rough number. I'd order more if you want to make continuous loops, dog bones or soft shackles. Once you start splicing you tend to keep going. As for where to get some, check out any one of our cottage vendors here.

Ah! Thank you, all. I guess I will be using cheap cord. That makes life much easier.

On a youtube I saw a person who recommended ZipTies - so that's what I did, went to Home Depot and bought some heavy duty UV rated ones - then gathered and ziptied then folded and ziptied again - then for cheap continuous loop found a deal on Mule Tape so did that.
Bought biggest climbing 'biner from REI 'cuz I weigh too much (280) and then used seat belt webbing ('cuz I have several rolls for making other things) as my three strap and sewed in loops.

If you msg me your addy I'll gladly send you a chunk of Mule Tape.

got to about 7 min in to see my table cloth hammock

Yeh, I gathered the end channels with good quality zip ties. Gather and almost tighten, larks head your whoopie or continuous loop and pass through the hole, then tighten zip tie up nice and tight. You still can pull Amsteel back through if needed for say, adding a ridgeline or whatever.
