    Dutch biner versus whoopie hook

Which do you prefer the biner or the whoopie hook? I see that the whoopie hooks are made of titanium and are quite light. I can't figure out what the dutchbiner is made out of. Any thoughts?

I currently use a tree strap with a MSH. My whoopies are connected to the gathered end of my hammock via larks head. The problem here is that my whoopies are wrapped up with my hammock, which on a wet day gets the hammock wet in my pack. A connection using one of the devices listed would allow me to disconnect the suspension from the hammock and wrap them up separately

I have used Dutch Biners for years. Love them. Things stay connected until I want them unconnected.

I'm pretty sure Dutch Biners are titanium. I use them on my ridge runner to make it easy to add the spindrift sock in colder weather. They're extremely durable and light weight.

I use these sap sacks from Arrow Head Equipment to store my suspension in wet or dry and it keeps the wetness contained.

I have both. I find the Whoopie Hooks slightly more attractive as they are smaller and allow me to pack my Whoopie slings just a wee bit more compactly. I haven't used the Biners since getting my first set of Whoopie Hooks but, I do like the design.

You'll be happy with either choice

I don't see a weight rating n Dutch biners. I use whoopie hooks or if not, I use a climbing rated biner like Metolius FS Mini II. they're 1 gram heavier but smaller and 1 kN stronger than Camp Nano 22s...

I have the biners mostly because I didn't want to splice the hook onto my already owned whoopies. I like. Out of stock at the moment btw.

If memory serves they're rated to 1,000 lbs.

I prefer the Dutch biner to the whoopie hook because they have a wider contact face with the amsteel to disperse the load more than the hook.
