Hello from Western PA. I'm a long time tent and sometimes tarp camper who recently discovered hammock camping. I recently slept out for a couple nights in one and never slept so well out in the woods before. Now I'm learning that there is a lot more to learn about it and improve upon than I realized going in to it, so I ended up here. I'm excited to see that there is a community dedicated to this and look forward to talking about this and reading posts by others with more experience than I in this area.

And melbot65, as you get interested in different aspects of hammock camping, there will be hammockers here, who will show you the ropes. And if no one answers, or answers very well--try the stickies on Hammock Forums--or google it and most likely the search will unearth Hammock Forum threads about the same subject you want.
When I first got into hammocks I watched lots of YouTube videos on hammocks--Absolutely you'll want to watch Shug's ten part series: How to hang a hammock--tarp--insulation--quilts--pads and don't forget the coffee ☕️ in the hammock!
