    Sleeping pads yes or no

Wonder my what everyone's thoughts on sleeping pads are for hammock camping. Also suggestions if you do use them. Currently using Bearbutt double Hammie with full set up minus quilt.

While they work nothing beats the downy goodness of a underquilt....

I'm actually using a 40-year-old, 48" open cell foam pad in my brand-new Chameleon this afternoon and evening. It's simply too much trouble to go upstairs and pull the UQ out of its bag and set it up. However, if I was going to spend the whole night out, I'd be grabbing the UQ!
We are so spoiled with all of our great technology these days that it's easy to forget that I slept on that pad for years and years down on the ground, and thought it was great!

Tried them - hated them. They simply move or I move too much for them to stay in place. Plus I can't stay on top of them and this is with a double layer hammock. If the budget allows for an UQ then go for an UQ otherwise try the pads as many have reported using and liking them in past posts to the forum.

If you have a sleeping pad use it and enjoying it. But if you are debating sleeping bad vs underquilt get the underquilt. Now if money is a problem and the sleeping pad is more affordable then get the sleeping pad.

No from myself, slippin' slide. I have moved on without!

In a GE hammock I find a good fitting UQ is more comfortable than a pad. The key is 'good fitting', which can sometimes be a challenge . For a Bridge hammock I like a pad much better. A wide pad between layers in a bridge does not move and makes a comfortable hammock even better, in my opinion.
I also camp in places where sleeping on the ground (and no, that's not a bad word) is the only option. The pad is very welcome in that case where an UQ would be useless.
My pad is a reasonable weight, extremely compact, and very comfortable - in the hammock and on the ground.

Which pad are you using in which bridge hammock?

it's all personal preference for the most part, unless you've got a perpendicular hammock (Amok Draumr, or luke's 90 degree)

In my Amok, I've got an Exped Synmat 9, and it's awesomely comfortable, and very warm. I've also tried it in my gathered end, and didn't care for it in that at all
