How did you connect the two ridge pole pieces together?

The Tato stand kit came with a device that joins the two poles. The kit is no longer available unfortunately as it was very affordable and very high quality.

Can't get it online? Wow, I may hang on to mine then even though I never use it and considered selling.

No, I contacted Tato a few weeks back and they had one left in stock. I believe they are pushing the entire stand now which has nearly the same parts as the original kit but with added legs.

I've had my stand for a couple of weeks now and love it. I was able to setup on uneven ground and still get the ridgepole level. Something that I learned real quick: The tripod tie-offs are required if you want to set up a tarp over your hammock. I tried staking down my tarp and pulled the whole thing over on top of myself... Staking the stand solved the problem (don't take shortcuts). ;-)

HAHA! I did the same thing, just didn't want to admit it. A pipe to head hurts! I was just setting up the tarp to wash it off with the hose. Didn't think about the thing falling over.

I've done the same thing! I have the original kit (for conduit) and it doesn't have tie outs. What exactly do you mean? Are they guy lines for the tripods?

Yes. The stand has small key ring loops at the top and comes with guy lines and stakes. You're supposed to stake it down when you set it up. I suggest following those suggestions.

I had no idea what those were for! Well, just more reason for me to not use this thing...I'm lazy. Not a knock against the product at all; I just don't like messing with stuff.

I'm confused. How did the stand fall by hanging a tarp from it? It seems to me that a staked down tarp would only assist in holding the stand in place. I've hung my tarp many times from my stand and never had anything like this happen.
