    Ridgerunner pole end tarp protector?

Have one coming and am wondering about the puncture problem.

    What are you guys using?

I was thinking about a piece of bicycle inner tube.

I don't use anything. I just pitch my tarp and use the panel pulls to keep the tarp away from the poles. No problems.

I copied the "bumper" idea with some heat-shrink tubing I had in the toolbox. It works fine but took a bit of time to make and install. Overall, just keep the tarp pulled out. The ends of the poles are pretty polished and won't snag/cut unless you've dropped them on a hard surface and caused some kind of burr.

I think if I wanted to do it now I'd skip the tubing and just use a few wraps of the "rescue tape" or similar. It's self-fusing silicone sold in several formats. It doesn't have any adhesive to speak of so it won't make a big mess. Maybe add 2 wraps then cut a hole on the inside using a piece of sharpened metal tubing.

I bought these and love them but do not over heat them or you will order a second set like I had to.

Either DIY out of heat shrink tubing or bicycle inner tube or buy a set from AHE. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I made ours out of bicycle inner tube. We use these even though we also use a pole mod kit on our Cloudburst tarps.
