    Need lightweight and strong fabric

Hi, I try to use 30D Nylon 66 like a Hennessy hammock 'Deep Jungle Asym Zip XL' but I try to pull out, stitch hole is expand.

Or nylon 66 not work? Please advise me to choose the right fabric.

    Thank you so much.

Hexon 1.0 from dutchware maybe? It's very light and is used in hammocks. Alternately, you could find out what kind of "bonded nylon" hummingbird hammocks use for their Single - I think that's the lightest hammock on the market.

Might do the same test, but use three rows of equally spaced stitching . Maybe try a #12 needle and make sure you use a long stitch length.

You might also try using a zig-zag stitch. Not to tight or all you do is punch a bunch of "tear here" holes in the fabric. I use a double line of zig-zag stitches on all my hammocks now...

Afaik, Hennessy Hammocks are whipped, so there aren't any seams that are stressed enough to pose a problem. With very lightweight fabrics I have found it's a better idea not thread the suspension through a sewn channel, but rather whip them. It seems to spread out the forces better. If a 30D ripstop nylon shows stretch holes like that, 20D fabrics like the 1.0oz Hexon likely won't be better. If you want to stick with seams, try a 40D fabric.

What type of seam are you sewing and where are you sewing it?

I use a modified flat felled seam, that I made up myself, on our tarps that is less prone to stitch elongation than the traditional flat felled seam and top stitched french seam. It may work for you. The photo attached is with some of Dutch's old Sil Argon which was a 15 denier sil and the stitch elongation was almost non-existent.
