    Rappel Rings System

Has anyone tried a carabiner with rappel rings with a HH? If so, how well do you think it worked?

    Rappel Rings System

It's what I use and I love it. It's a bit heavier than other systems and some say it will eventually damage the cordage but I haven't seen that yet.

    It worked well.

If weight is a concern, there are lighter, cheaper alternatives.

Another question, where are some good places to get rings and carabiner? I would like reliable yet affordable.

That's what I use on my Hennessey Jungle Safari and it works great. I purchased my rings and biners at EMS (Eastern Mountain Sports). I got climbing grade rings and biners. They were reasonably priced and have withstood the test of time. Also, no noticeable wear/tear on the cordage.

    Best of luck !

I use them too. Got climbing grade carabiners at Mountain Equipment Co-op, basically the same as your REI stores. Aluminium rappel rings same place. Not cheap but didn't break the bank either. A great foolproof system I've used for a few years now for canoe & car camping where weight isn't an issue ... not ideal for backpacking though.

It worked for me just fine. You can convert your HH to continuous loops and then go with straps, cinches, whoopies or whatever. If you use the rings and biners, just make sure you get climbing grade gear.

I used climbing rings and carabiners at REI. Been using them for a number of years now with the HH stock ropes, so far no damage.

I tried it with climbing carabiners and rings from REI, but didn't think it was a big improvement over the Hennessey lashing. I ended up changing over to whoopie slings with a dutch hook and continuous loop. I will probably give the beetle hooks a shot when they are available, just to try something different. (And I need another suspension for the chair I intend to make...)

Does anyone have pictures of their hammocks using this setup? I am curious how you all set up this way. I must be doing something wrong because I've tried this system, but I end up on the ground the minute I put weight on it. The ropes come free using the smooth aluminum rings.
