Hello from Newman, California (Central Valley)

Whats up everyone? My name is Jerry and I am brand new to hammock camping.
I'm no stranger to tent camping, hiking, etc, though for the last 12 years or so I've only had 1 opportunity to even park and camp. So I am really looking forward to getting out there and spending some time away from the masses out in nature.

So I will not even pretend to have the first clue about hammock camping, which of course is why I am here, to learn. I've been watching a lot of Shug's video, Syntax77, and have had interest in Hammocks for a while. The issue is for me is that I would have to have the bug net regardless if there were insects out there or not, and I'm kind of claustrophobic so the small amount of hammocks I have seen setup just feel too small to me. So recently after doing research and seeing reviews by some people I do trust, I bought a hammock system that kind of resolves most of this, at least in theory. In the long run I may (probably) switch to other stuff, but this system despite it's cost kind of fit the bill for me. Now I really need to get out and actually use it.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to interacting with everyone, and learning, and getting out there.

Welcome from Northern Arkansas! The fun thing about hammock camping is that one size does NOT fit all! Half the fun is figuring out what works for you! Good luck on your adventures!

And the great part about failing/learning, once or twice or a dozen times, just means I have to get back out into the outdoors and try again. Darn!
