    Newbie DIYer needs tarp help!

Ok folks! I'm new to hanging but do have some sewing skills and have made some gear in the past (stuffsacks, tarp, etc.) I'm also on a quest to lower my pack weight and work towards an ultralight setup. I've been doing a lot of research on what materials to use to stay within budget and an acceptable weight.

So here's my criteria for a tarp:
    -Lightweight material
    -Minimal work (ridgelines look impossible!)
-Not too large for using on the ground
-Not too small to use with a hammock

I was going to order 4 yards of 1.1 silpoly XL (70" wide) to make a rectangle tarp. https://ripstopbytheroll.com/products/1-1-oz-silpoly-xl

My question is would a 68"x 120" be large enough coverage for a hammock?

My tarp is much larger than that. 12'x10'. I've tried smaller tarps and have gotten wet or at least nervous.

My tarp is 100% useable on the ground, by the way. I posted a thread with some pics of various ground pitches here a long time ago.

Does anyone have experience with this tarp? I feel like this could be the ticket between weight, price and functionality Anyone have weight on the finished product?

Assuming it's Membrane silpoly at 0.93 oz/yard, eight yards would be 7.44 oz. The D rings and grosgrain is about 1 oz so I'm guessing around 9 oz finished -- give or take.
