Continuous Ridge Line - Zing It or Reflect It?

    Guys,
I'm ordering a new CRL as I have a blue Reflect It with the Tato connectors but the Reflect it is too slick and thin and they do not hold well. So I'm going back to soft shackles. My question is do the soft shackles hold on this thinner/slicker reflect it or should I go for the Zing It as I know these work.

I can't offer any insight as I have used neither the Reflect-It or the Tato doodads but have you considered going up to 2.2mm Reflect-It. That might solve your problem.

As for the Lash-It!/Zing-It!, they're both pretty slick themselves. It's one of the reasons they don't play well with knots.

I use Zing-it on my CRL. I alsoconnect the tarp with modified soft shackles using the Klemheist knot. Both the Klemheist and the Prusik work very well for me on Lash-it even when the soft shackles are made from the same cord. The key is to provide sufficient wraps when tying the knots. When in doubt use more wraps and they will always hold well enough to keep the tarp in place.

This is reflective dutchwire pursik 4 wraps on the reflect-it. The dutchwire was cut to 8 inches to make the loop.

I use reflective cord on my guy lines but not so important to me on the tarp. If the trees were way far apart, making a "clothes line" that would be one thing. But when I need the reflection at night, when returning to the hammock, I usually aim for the center of the tarp area.

    I use 3mm climber's ($5.00 for 50ft) from REI.

Tried my Tato Connectors for the first time this past weekend. Worked okay, I used spectra spear gun line with a Dutch hook on one end, Dutch wasp on the other. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I know you had shown interest in my CRL back at the Yates Hang, mine is a 30' section of black ReflectIt with a Dutch Wasp and Hook. I used to have ZingIt soft shackles prussiked to the RL to hold the tarp, but I replaced them with green ReflectIt Micro-UCRs. I haven't had a problem yet with regards to slipping.

That's what I used to do and it worked great until I tried it in an ice storm. We had a situation where the precipitation started as freezing rain and then continued with sleet and freezing rain while the temp dropped below freezing and the tarp began accumulating ice.

The weight of the ice overcame the Prussick friction (4-5) wraps, Zing it on Zing it, and the tarp sagged down into the Hancock. By the time I woke up, there was so much ice, so solidly stuck to the tarp, I had to get out of the hammock and beat, shake and scrape the sheet ice off the tarp before I could retention correctly.

I still use a Zing it CRL with Zing it Prussicks for warm weather for simplicity and light weight but am using a two piece setup in winter so it can't slide.

Haha I'd be glad too! Everything is going well on my end, my girlfriend did indeed just graduate and I just started a new internship. I hope everything is going well for you too, and I look forward to seeing you again!
