I read the trip reports and thought, wow that must have been tough.
Then I read them again with Jeffs algonquin map in front of me.More like holy *@$!+!! . Brutal !
Truly in voyageur style. Sleep deprevation, paddling from dawn till dusk, near drownings, loss of skin, too tired too eat dinner!
150 years ago the 4 of you could have been gainfully employed by the HBC.

Hope you have all recovered and are ready to do it again. Well maybe not quite an arduous journey.
signed: Marshmellow
btw I did get a sliver in my foot lol
No signs,no fees,no rules, nobody. My kind of campsite.
Forgot to thank Greaves for his donation of a banner/tarp for the voyageurs to locate us on opeongo.
As such it never got used for that purpose because mother nature decided to treat us with 15 minutes of biblical weather and she destroyed LMB's tarp.
We rigged up the banner as a tarp over LMB hammock and he got to hang out for the weekend after all.
Thanx

I paddled in with a few of the marshmallows the morning after the tempest and there were definitely signs that a major windstorm had blown through. A good number of branches were on the ground and this 8"-10" diameter tree in the camping area had a very fresh crack. 76Highboy and LuveMyBonnet are very fortunate that it didn't come down on them.
As KeeWayKeno mentioned, that storm had knocked out the power in a broad swath from the Georgian Bay to the Ottawa River. Even the Opeongo Park Office was blacked out.

Yep! Loco Tormenta! After it was all over I realized that we could have easily took one off the knoggin. I almost hung off that cracked tree. I was only 5 ft over.
UGQ has such outstanding customer service that they are replacing the tarp!
Hanging in the woods, paddlin and catching trout- My kind of living...
I didn't have to send it back. I sent a picture to Paul as he thought he could fix it. When he saw the pic he said UGGG. He knew it was beyond repair and was kind enough to just replace the entire tarp. Very cool of UGQ! I would have been pretty bummed if I would have lost a tarp like that on only its 3rd day in the piney woods.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to thank Paul and Missy in person. I hoping to make HangCon 18' in January.
