Marin/Sonoma county

I'll be heading to Marin/Sonoma county in a few weeks. Bouncing around to different work locations. I'm thinking about taking my camping gear. This isn't a camping trip, but I need somewhere to lay down at night, so it might be worth it. Out of the 10 nights away, I'll need somewhere to stay 6 or 8 of them. I'm intentionally keeping this loosey goosey.

I guess my real question is do I need reservations in that area, or can I just google a campsite and show up? Mostly, I'll be in Petaluma and Sonoma.

Any help appreciated!

I would recommend a reservation, also check with what State Park you might be staying for some do not allow hammocks. Good luck for it's a crowded area.
