how to remove alum buckles from WB hammock

I read the "Done with whoopie slings" thread and a few of the posts got me thinking about changing the buckles on my Warbonnet. I have the web suspension, which I like, but I share the frustration with others when it comes to adjusting it. I like the looks of the Cinch Bugs from Dutch. Is there an easy way of removing the aluminum buckles from the loop on the hammock ends?

The buckles are on a continuous loop, no way to remove short of cutting them off. When you buy the new buckles also buy some Amsteel 7/64th and make new continuous loops to attach the new buckles. Just make sure to thread the buckle on before making the loop. Ask me how I know.

Haha! I've done stuff like that more than I'd like to admit.

I figured some new loops would fix the problem. Dutch's cinch bugs have a hook to attach to the loop, so I wouldn't have to put them on the loop. If I understand the way they work?

Might want to take a look at the Beetles from Dutch. They work great.

Are the beetle buckles available yet? I haven't seen them.

Not yet... June I believe. The beetles are nice, probably worth the wait, however, do to the fact that they don't get added into the continuous loops you can always get them later and go with something like the cinch bugs now... Can't have to many components. They always seem to make their way onto another hammock!

don't cut. I believe they are on a continuous loop, which can be removed from the gathered end. Just find where they loop goes thru itself. Pry that open and off the gathered end. Buy new continuous loops from the vendor of your choice.
I took some of mine off this way. Took just a few minutes.

Good point.. I still have a set of my warbonnet cinch's with the grey continuous loops lying around. Not sure if I'll ever use them because they're so heavy, but they're there and ready to go in a pinch!

I think there is some confusion and mixup. Cinch bugs are different than cinch buckles. To the poster asking about them. They are similar to the beetles and the hammock continuous loops hook on easy. They work nicely. They are actually a bit lighter than the beetles.

Yeah...they'll come off. Just pay attention as you go. Or take bolt cutters to the buckles.
