    Dyneema/polypro strap stretch

Has anyone experienced an excessive amount of stretch when using the Dyneema/polypro straps?
I got the beetle suspension with D/P straps and have been trying them out on the last few outings. My previous suspension of choice was a set of DIY PE straps to go around the tree, MSH to a length of 7/64 amsteel with DIY speed hooks. I would see only about 1" of stretch with this set up from set up until morning. Now with the beetle and D/P setup I consistently see 8"-14" of sag or stretch from set up until the morning.
I have learned to set up a little higher and expect the sag but I am also thinking of just going back to my old setup and use the D/P stras for around the tree. I would cut the straps in half too. But I thought the Dyneema in the straps would help avoid the stretch from a Polypro strap.

That seems very excessive. I would think that the buckles are slipping, not that the straps are stretching.

I had the same issue last night, also think the buckles are slipping. No longer going for a 30Ί hang but rather as horizontal as possible (on the straps)

The beetles could be slipping but I do not notice any evidence of that. I will have to mark the strap and test it again this week.

I didn't notice any stretch in my poly-pro straps from dutch last night but I did notice that it did slide around from the side to center while using my dutch clips on the pecan tree. I shifted about 3inches with the natural pull of the hang angle. Maybe something like that happened in your case?

Oh no, I hate to hear about the possibility of the straps stretching or the hardware slipping. I haven't had that problem yet with the Dutch Dyneema/Beetle combo, but haven't used them overnight.

Hmm, I only have 2 nights so far, but no slipping. I weigh about 190. Not sure what that could be.

I use the Dyneema/Polypro straps almost exclusively now and I have noticed them slip here and there. (Particularly with the cheaper cinch buckles) I have not really noticed them slip with the beetle buckles though... I wonder if they get a little less slippery with age?

Yeah, I like the color/weave design of the dyneema/polypro straps but I think the dyneema makes the straps really slippery. The weight savings aren't enough (if using just a couple feet for huggers) for me to keep using them. I prefer the holding power of the polyester straps.

I've been using the dy/poly straps pretty much since it came out. I haven't experienced any slipping that I can point to. I've used them with ti cinch buckles for camping and with cinch bugs on a RR indoors for months. I don't have beetle buckles...yet.
