I use straps that wrap around themselves 3-4 times and run a simple line that is larks headed to the straps.
The free end goes straight to homemade friction devices on each end if the hammock.
Takes a while to setup-6-7 mins but is foolproof

Just this past weekend I ran into an issue with spacing and whoopie slings. It was enough to make me start looking for alternative suspensions and put a reminder on my gear list to bring a couple of 'biners for extra options. I had continuous loops but didn't even think to put those right on the MSH because I didn't want to mess with trying to adjust via tree strap. Now I see the error of my ways.
I'm also going to try out the J-bend next time I'm out.
