I went up to the Cossatot River State Park in Arkansas Friday night for a quick getaway. The low for Saturday morning was supposed to be 48* so I figured this would be a perfect test for my new Econ 40* Burrow and Incubator.
This would also be my first camping trip with a hammock so I was really trying out all of my gear for the first time. I had watched Shug's excellent video on adjusting the Incubator, but the only thing I did before getting in was hook the S-biners on the suspension and tighten the shock cord up until it "looked right."
At one point during the night I felt some cool air on my back but then remembered the cinch cord that is on the end of the quilt, and once I got that tightened I warmed up quickly and never got cold again. All in all I was very comfortable and never got chilled other than that.
Saturday morning I got up and checked my thermometer and it actually got down to 43*, about 5 degrees cooler than predicted. I wore a mid weight Minus33 base layer with merino wool socks and a fleece beanie, and I feel certain I could have gone several degrees colder and still been comfortable.
I couldn't be more pleased with the Econ quilts and recommend them highly. I think the only thing "economy" about them is the price.
BTW, I am a little over 6' tall and was debating on getting the long version but on Harry's advice I went with the standard length on both which turned out to be plenty long.
Best,
Alkali
