TSC is the stuff I use. All permethrin bonds on the molecular level. Once dried it doesn't rub off or leech into or on to other stuff, and that includes skin. I don't do, insulation, socks or underwear, but everything else is game. Rather have my skin in contact with permethrin treated clothes, than spray Deet on me anywhere.

Don't diss the petroleum based products. Used safely on farms, pigs, sheep, cows, horses, and dogs. We use to hang a bottle from the saddle horn when trail riding in the summer.

If you aren't smell sensitive, it won't be a problem. Doesn't break down ripstop or silnylons. The petro base actually slows down evaporation of the product, so it has a chance to soak and saturate better on animal hide. I do soak outside, wear latex gloves, and hang out on a line to dry.

UV exposure is as hard on the treatment as washing, and probably more. Once my trip is done, gear all cleaned up and stored, I toss my hiking clothes in a garbage sack, until needed again. Dark closet should work as well.

Does it work? Yes. I've even stopped trying to brush spiders and other bugs offa my ground sheet. You can't save them

This is what we use (diluted with water in a spray bottle) It looks similar to the amazon link but I can buy it locally.

I tried that Gordon's brand "livestock spray" and that's all it's good for, livestock. Petroleum based and stinks. IMHO. I found that Martin's brand is water based and manufactured for in-home use and has almost no odor to speak of.

Straight from the horse's (Sawyer's) mouth--

One source for Martin's 10 in various sizes-
    http://www.bugspraycart.com/insectic.../permethrin-10

I soak everything (including my hammock) except for spraying my shoes and pack and depending on whether hat can not be soaked, my hat.

I hang in garage NOT out in sunshine as UV rays degrade Permethrin.

That is what I use and have not suffered any ill effects. I believe SlvrSufer also uses it.
I think that Martin's switched to water based because my permethrin used to stink like crazy, and now it doesn't. I even lamented the lack of smell (and it wasn't yellow enough) a few years ago.

I used to like the smell - I didn't have to remember if I had sprayed clothing - I could smell it.

Dont forget to spray the straps! Keeps the bugs from marching down the tree to find a weakness in the armor.

I wonder if this would work as well. https://www.amazon.com/Bonide-Ready-...bed+bug+killer

I bought a bottle at the end of last year, but haven't put it through a really good test yet. It claims to be a water-based, .5 solution. Seems like it would work. Thoughts?

Hey Weaver2469. Recommend you stick with Sawyer Permethrin. Has yet to disappoint.
