Not meaning to speak for George, but, if I understand his meaning, it seems clear that he really designed the Operator Habanero for a highly niched application: ultralight summer use. The underquilt is only 50" x 44", or 2200 square inches in area, which is 1.7 square yards. Using Multicam Epsilon instead of Argon 67 on one quilt shell (at a 0.88 oz/square yard weight difference) would actually add 1.5 ounces to this minimalist quilt (9.7 oz instead of 8.2 oz) -- an 18% weight penalty just for the camo. George isn't offering different lengths or a lot of options on these underquilts, presumably to meet weight goals, keep production streamlined, and allow him to offer them at this fantastic price point (MC costs more wholesale too); it's actually really cool that he's offering this many solid colors. From his website, it says the quilt is designed for...

Given this aim and the aforementioned facts and considerations, I can understand why he wants to stick with just Argon 67 UQs. My $0.02...

This is an expensive forum to check in on...... Top and Bottom Operators just ordered. I used my 20 degree LL quilts earlier in month on an AT hike and loved them but wanted something a little lighter for the summer hikes. Thanks George .....kind of.....:-)
