Sticky bugnet zipper on the Chameleon?

    Hey everyone,

I hope you're loving your Chameleons as much as I am. I've hung it in the yard every day after work, eagerly anticipating when I can get it out in the wild for some overnights.

Has anyone noticed any of the zippers being hard to attach and then hard to zip on their bugnet? I haven't tried the vented top cover to see if the same issue replicates, but it does appear isolated to the bugnet zipper as it remains on that same zipper if I flip it. It looks as if things are not lining up as perfectly as the other 3 zippers on the bugnet itself.

Is anyone is having the same issue? If so, are there are any suggestions or fixes for the issue? I am planning on just working around it, but am open to other feedback.

    Thanks all,

I didn't have a problem actually attaching the net, went right on. BUT, after it's on, the zipper is definitely, in my experience, a little finicky. Not as smooth as you'd expect it to be. Everything else I'm very happy with.

Mine were good from day one, but they get smoother the more you work 'em; just get camping, people.

You could try rubbing a candle over the zippers. That kind of oils them, without the mess. It worked for my tent zippers.

I have found the zipper to be awesome. It's like a marine zipper....It's got nice big teeth. I concur that it has gotten easier with some use.

Maybe your bugnet is on backwards. It has a definite shape. Happened to me. flipped it and all is good.

At first I found I was just afraid to really pull it for fear that it may rip. Make sure your not pulling it in line or parallel to the zipper and hang on just behind it as you pull it forward. It will pop into place and get easier over time.

    Thanks for the reply, Shug.

I don't think it was because it was backwards as I was having trouble when I was starting the zipper (before getting in the hammock), unless that would matter before I've layed down or attached the tie-outs.

Here's my noob question of the day though, my head and feet should be along the the diagonal, from where each of your zippers are laid out, where it makes the longest line correct?

It would be good to make sure I'm not doing this backwards.

Just the opposite actually. Picture the zippers attached to the end of your hammock. Your head and feet should be at the rounded corners.
