Question 20* or 30* Incubator Econ

I'm about to pull the trigger on a new HG Incubator Econ but I'm not sure if I should get the 20* or 30*. I tend to be a cold sleeper but I only camp from March to October and generally in the south. I try not to go out if I know it's going to be below freezing at night mostly because I can't stand being cold but even if I overestimate the temps it doesn't generally get below 30* in the months that I'm out.

I'm thinking the 30* quilt to save a little weight and also because I tried a friends ENO Blaze which is rated at 30-40* and was too hot (although it wasn't a great test as it was in the high 60's at night). I still definitely liked it better than using a pad. I'm a little tight on cash, so I would prefer to get this right the first time. Thanks!

In the south. March to October. You don't go out when it's cold. Get the 30 then. You'd probably even be happy with the 40. No need for a 20 in the situations you described.

I'd have to agree with Kroma. I got a 20* Phoenix but I love being in the cold, I'm super excited for winter. It's terrible we only see one or two days here in Texas though.
If you do happen to see lower temps you can always layer your sleep wear to be more comfortable. Or do some cocoa and jumping jacks.

I'd go with the 30, it should be all the insulation you need. The temp rating on the HG quilts are conservative.

This exact moment I'm wishing I had a 30°. So many times the forecast is around 34-38 when I'm planning. 34 is getting a bit low to push my 40°+1 Burrow. I've done it and it's just not something I want to do anymore. So I end up with my 20+1 quilt, only to find the next night or two possibly up around 45 or 50° which is overkill (but not crazy).

So I think the 30° quilt would be perfect for me. I just have a hard time justifying a 20, 30 and 40

Thanks for all the advice. I'm going to get the 30. Super excited to be getting rid of the sleeping pad!

I've had the same experience as you, which is why I pulled the trigger on the 30 degree Econ Burrow. Will probably end up selling my Burrow 40. $$ should be a wash.

The econ is an economy based quilt.
