I have the bug now so thought I'd like to make my own hammock from 1.9 ripstop nylon. I have a commercial one at present that is about 10 feet long x 5 feet wide, I'm a big guy so if I can I'd like to go about 11 long and 6 or 7 feet (or more) on the width. I'm soliciting ideas for how to do this.
Most of the fabric I've seen is 60 inches wide so, can I just double up and sew a couple of pieces side to side, for the body of the hammock, does that create an irritating seam in the center? Another idea I'm thinking is to use a 60 inch bit in the center and tack on two 12 inch pieces on each side of it. I guess I could use different colors then for a cool two tone effect.
Any suggestions or a link to someone else's success story? There is so much information here that even a search takes forever to sort through. Thanks for your help.
