Hanging at home . Set up in the dark. Mule tape trucker hitch to 1 inch tree strap. Pretty sure it had some slack to take up and the heat started the failure rolling.

Time to get more mule tape.
Or maybe switch knots. Or pre-tighten knot real tight before gradually applying your weight. Maybe switch to a more heavy duty mule tape.
I've been playing with a new knot (new for me and I've modified it) Quick Hitch. It's tied in the bight--no need to access either end of rope or mule tape. To tie onto a continuous loop: wrap mule tape around two fingers 4 times (that is two consecutive round turns) insert continuous loop into-through all 4 wraps, make a bight in working end and insert bight into end of continuous loop. Tighten carefully and fully then gradually set hitch by applying a little more of your weight at a time, before fully loading. The fun part of this modified four wrap quick hitch on a continuous loop is when done, give it a yank and entire hitch disappears. Sorry for the blah blah blah. Follow these directions and look up quick hitch to learn a useful knot.
I wonder if 3.3 Kevlar will be less likely to fail??
Good luck!
