    Cat destroys tarp....

That's just another good reason to not own a cat.....

    Other good reasons:

    - Cats kill 3.7 billion birds annually just for fun. Some species of birds are becoming extinct due to this murderous behavior.

    - They can infect you with Toxoplasma gondii, a brain parasite which causes toxoplasmosis. The disease has also been linked to some serious mental conditions, including schizophrenia, depression and anxiety. The parasite can rewire brains to seek out cats, thus the cat hoarding exhibited by "cat ladies". This infection can also cause you to find the smell of cat piss as "pleasant".

    - Cats are known for exhibiting postmortem predation (they will eat you if you die).

If you need more reasons, just Google "why cats suck".

I've always found it interesting how people try to justify their cat obsession by saying "but it acts like a dog". Sure, Gondii-Brain, whatever you say....

I attended a lecture by Dr. Peter Mara today.
    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

Used to have a cat. Never liked it much but the kids did. Only thing it was good for was getting rid of mice.

Cats been gone a while. Mice moved back in....got an upgrade: West Highland White Terrier. She's killed mice, voles, chipmunks and snakes (we live in a wooded area and get all manner of critter). Plus, she's easy on the hammock gear.

    Understanding the outdoor cat problem...

It's good to hear that you attended his lecture. With science denial becoming so commonplace in today's society, it is important that people try to understand what Dr. Marra has been researching. There are many articles about his research and his book, "Cat Wars". Most people are oblivious to the problem. If you own outdoor cats, try to find time to read one of the informative articles such as this one: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/scienc...ats-180960505/

Humans outnumber cats, and cats don't drive, heat homes, or spray everything in sight with glyphosate. Just for starters.

Not trying to minimize the impact of feral cats, but rearranging the deck chairs won't save the ship.
