if you double wrap it in such a fashion as the long part comes down over the short eye, around the tree again in the same idrection and then through from the back it shouldn't ever slide. i use this wrap on square and round smooth poles and the like. i developed that method for when i hang on carabiners on amsteel blue on my 1" pipe frame stand. if you want me to take pictures in the yard i can. works every time.

Pictures would be great! I'm trying to get a mental image but it's just not coming across.

I pitch my hammock slightly higher initially so when I get in it settles a little lower to where I want it.

Ok, so spiral up with the eye at the top, and bring the tail through from the bottom. Like this:

(Apologies for the sideways pics /: posting from the Jphone)
I offered to take pics cuz that wasnt easy enough to figure out how to relate in text for you to picture it in your mind's eye. Just make sure the eye is over a wrap and the tail comes through and pinches the first wrap down. Like a clove hitch i think kinda. Cheers!

yeah man, for sure. that usually ends the slip, if you gotta hang on a birch tree you might give an extra wrap just in case the thin bark gives on a wet tree. hope that ends your slip as well friend!

also, this method works well if you have a wet tree with thick, waterlogged, bark. i find usually the straps tend to settle in on bark with lots of crags and crevices or when its soaked through. pitching slightly higher to begin with helps eliminate havin too much sag in the morning.

I did remove the double wrap and went to a single. It's a little better but still slides a little.
Your strap's loop isn't positioned correctly, it's backwards.
If you want your free end of your strap on the right side of the tree, as you're looking at, the loop end needs to be adjusted further back on the tree and tightly flush against the trunk, not pulling away from the tree. No gaps between strap and tree trunk.

Try positioning your strap's loop end a little further back, run your free end through and then cinch it tight so it's pulling against the loop.
    That should rectify the problem.
I was having a similar issue, until I started making the said adjustments outlined above.

I'm using dutch clips. I don't think I am able to move the clip further back than what is pictured. I could be confused as to what you are saying though.
