    Hammock Hanging Rules

    Hammock Hanging Rules

    • Never hang higher that you want to fall
If you do, wear a safety harness and don't forget to attach a safety line
    • Do not hang from a dead tree
    • Do not hang over or under a wasp nest
    • Always test your gear under controlled conditions before using it in the woods
    • Manufactures product temperatures ratings are always wrong.
    • You can never have too many hammocks (TQ's, UQ's, tarps ect)
    • Any hang you can walk away from is a good hang
    • If you did not learn anything from your last hang then you are doing something wrong.
    • If you need X number of tie out lines and or stakes, you will find that you have X-1 when you try to set up your hammock and tarp.
    • The trees at the site with the best view are either too close together or too far apart to hang from
    • Knots that will not come untied will when you are hanging from them
    • Tell the Park Ranger you are using a “suspended tent”
    • Do not argue with the Park Ranger, offer to show then the benefits of hammock camping.
    • Practice LNT...Leave No Trace
    • The view is always better from a hammock.

Still trying to convince my 3 y.o. that a hammock isn't a death trap.

    He doesn't believe me...

I just started hammock camping and am taking my ENO Onelink system out this weekend with a bunch of guys. Doing dry runs the last two weekends, both my kids have had a chance to spend some time hanging and both of them want a hammock now, too.

Hoping my 7 year old will take to hammock camping this season. It'll be hard to separate her from her tent . . . she certainly loves napping in the hammock in the backyard.
