    SQUIRREL DAMAGE

Have had several days of wet weather recently and the other day I noticed several dried small muddy areas on my SuperFly near one end. Upon closer examination I disappointedly discovered several small puncture marks on both sides near the ridgeline. Since the tarp is tied off at this end closer to a tree with many thinner branches above I suspect a squirrel may have fallen from one of those branches, landing on the tarp. What do folks think?

Question is now what's the best way to repair the damage,...using GearAid Tenacious Tape or something similar, and should application of said tape be to the inside or outside of the tarp? Being a bit of a perfectionist I'd like to make the tape so that it's as unsightly as possible.

    Help!

Tenacious tape is um.... tenacious. LOL
It will do the job. I would put it on both sides.

Just punctures? How big? My stupid barncat decided to climb my new xenon Sil tarp by Dutch and it left 3-4 holes. I just dabbed on some silnet per Dutch's suggestion. Works fine.

Does tenacious tape stick to silnylon? I wouldn't think it would, since silicone is the only thing that sticks to silicone.

Warbonnet sells a repair kit that is, essentially, a piece of sil nylon and a tube of silicone. If you have any spare nylon material you can diy. That being said, I have used tenacious tape to repair my Mamajamba and it's held pretty well.

Like a dream, but you have to be careful putting it on, following all the instructions: clean the entire area well with alcohol wipes, round all corners and, the longer it's on, the better the adhesive bonds with the fabric, the less the fabric tension will release the bond at the edges of the patch. Any dirt or finger oil will cause it to not sick as well

As mentioned by someone else, I put it on both sides too, but I don't think the instructions say to.

I seam seal with GE Silicone II thinned with mineral spirits. For small puncture, thinned silicone would offer the least obvious repair. Take advantage of the opportunity to seal or re-seal your panel-pull tie outs.

I use Tenacious Tape. As stated above, FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. I would tape both sides.

As mentioned above if the holes are tiny a thinned silicone would work.

Take a magnifying glass have a look at the threads, see if there is a lot of surrounding damage or just tiny pin prick holes.

This thread was one of my inspirations to go with a regular Poly tarp. Between critters, kids and not being careful I would be miserable if I was to puncture or mess up a $150+ tarp.
