How hard and best way to make a Cuban fiber tarp

Hey all, i have a proto type hammock I am going to be testing..... can't wait.
But besides that, I want to make a cuban fiber tarp for it. And I have heard that cuban fiber is hard to work with but because this hammock is bigger then the ridge runner it needs a special custom tarp made. So, I figured I would just make one and I have my sights on the Cuban fiber.

I have heard both sewing and taping this tarp work good.
Does the cuban need the cat cut?

Does anyone have any good links to help point me in the right direction? I dont want links to vendors.

    Thanks

Sgt Rock made an excellent cuben tarp tutorial video, about four years ago. If you if you do a search on YouTube you can find it. There's also a thread here on hammock forums by him.

BTW, that's "cuben". My wife is Cuban.

    Part 1 of Leshy's build.
The rest of the series will shed some light on why cuben is not for everybody, as far as diy is concerned.
Tapes, glues, expensive fabric. Special tools and techniques.
You need a big clean space to lay out the fabric and do the folding and gluing.
All in all, I don't think you can one off a diy for what the vendors are charging.

If you can make you own prototype hammock you will
have no trouble with a customised Cuben tarp. 😎

It won't be very much cheaper than a bought one,
but it will be to your very own design. There's also the
satisfaction of making it yourself. Good luck.

One of many, in the DIY section in this forum. Mine. 😜
