    HELP - Chattooga River Trail

I have a trip planned this weekend to the CRT. We're planning to start at Thrift Lake or US-78 and hike south to US-76. I bought Homan's guide for the trail, but it doesn't have much information on the last 10 miles between 76 and Sandy Ford. Does any one know that area? Specifically I'm looking for campsite locations...preferably near the middle of that section. The guide simply mentions that there are a few spread out across the 10 miles, but I was hoping to nail down locations better than that. We will have three hammockers in our group.

    Thanks, and happy hanging!

Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can.
    Pursuing it with eager feet
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."

I live in the area, but haven't done a lot of that trail, but have wanted to.
East Fork to Burrells Ford to Licklog is a popular section for me to do.

When are you planning on doing it?

No worries. I'm curious how the trip went when he gets back

Well, I guess I'll have to keep y'all in suspense. My trip got delayed until probably Memorial Day weekend when something came up at work.

I've hiked that section a few times as well. The whole Licklog area is pretty nice. Beware though. The majority of the trail south of there doesn't follow the river nearly as closely as it does in that section.

From Licklog, south to Russell's bridge is as far as I've gone, and I've only done that once.

I know this is an old thread, but we are thinking about hiking Burrells Ford to Licklog (or vice versa) the second week of January...where would you say the best hammock sites are in that section? We've never hiked the trail at all, so everything we know is from maps and the internet.

There isn't too much in-between that I can remember. We typically start at Burrells Fords and hike to Licklog. Lot's of camping spots at either end.
I'm sure there's a spot or 2 in between, but I just can tell you for sure.

    Have fun.

Ditto this. It was actually my first hike with a hammock and I struggled to find a good site (though there were good spots near Burrell's Ford, but it was too early in the day to stop).

Here's my post on the trip:
    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ga-River-Trail

The campsite was at 34.94320, -83.11838 and only had room for the one hammock, but the beach was perfect for tents. It's a really pretty section of trail, but there are not many flat spots through there.
