    ViDEO: NUBÉ Hammock Shelter....First Impressions

Richard from Seirra Madre Reasearch has reached out to me a couple of times in the past to take a gander at their Hammock Shelter and me being me....I said "not right now"
But he asked again and I decided I was interested to see what it was all about.
Very engineered and full of features. Very different after the simplicity of a hex tarp. But I like how the Insect Shield surrounds you whilst in the hammock.
This could very nice for a trip to the Boundary Waters here in Minnesota during high bug season.
They do offer lighter (less features) stuff sacks....https://www.sierramadreresearch.com/...ble-stuff-lite
    Could save some weight there.
More testing to come. Some will love this. Some will not.

    Highly engineered.
    Some like that.
I don't think it would ever replace my good ol' tarp.

It's got some neat features. The roominess of the tarp & net & floor combo will be sweet in bug season although, can you make your coffee? I suppose you're stuck with exposing an arm to the wee beasties in order cook yar br'fast in either case

really like the way the bug net attaches to the tarp! Laurie hates her Fronkey style net, says it feels cramped. Something like this would help.

Had heard of but was never familiar with the Nube line of products. Thanks for the looky-see!

I got to meet them at the sipsey hang last weekend very nice people and got to see this version, the newer version and the inferno system.

I really liked the inferno topquilt and underquilt that's on kickstarter right now and if I was in the market for a TQ and UQ I would definitely be backing them. They also donate a portion of the profit to build clean water wells in Central America: https://www.sierramadreresearch.com/one/

Not tried yet. Should not be a problem but the Nube as they designed it seems to want to take a higher hang.

That is the big advantage on the Nubé

I think the Stratos Shelter will be a huge improvement.

That is an interesting rig, lots going on there for sure. But as you said "it's just another reason to have a lot of naps" thats all the justification I'd need to try a new system.
    Good luck,
