I'm gonna agree with this. The schedule (thickness) of the pipe will not be sufficient to hold any weight. I would certainly try finding something to support more weight.

I've seen skinny kids jump chain link fences and bend them. I wouldn't trust my big butt in that spot. Just my pocket lints worth. (I've also built fences for over 20 years; farm, yards, wooden, welded, chain link)

They are 4x4 but the actual fence structure helps support them.

I've done a number of repairs on my chain link fence so I am fairly familiar with the material. It's really only made to hold critters inside. Any sustained weight and they will break or bend. Why don't you see if they can put in 4x4's instead? Perhaps have them put some horizontal bars around the top to keep them from moving. They could probably use the fence material for this and it might look pretty neat.

I have a clothesline supported by 2" steel pipes that have been bent by the weight of wet laundry. I wouldn't use anything smaller than 3" XS pipe or 4x6 treated lumber.

While the fence guy is there, have them drill out the three holes with the auger. Then plant your 6x6 posts or 6" or 8" round posts in the holes and backfill them gravel. 3 feet buried. 16' spread will be good for all hammocks.

It'll save you the shovel time.
