Old Dominion Hangers- Old Shenandoah 2017

Ok folks, after a great spring hang, at James River State Park, the Old Dominion Hangers are pushing on to our summer event, a "float/hang" on the south fork of the Shenandoah River in June. Canoes or kayaks bring 'em on and join us as we paddle this north flowing river through some of the most beautiful country in Virginia.
We will leave from Bixlers bridge on Friday, 23 June and end at Bentonville, Mile 28, on Sunday the 25th.
This stretch of the river is mostly class I and II rapids except for Comptons which is class II/III. Comptons is, however, on a bend in the river and, if you do not wish to attempt it, you may easily portage past it, with a short crossing of about 50 yards. In the words of one delightful little girl on my last run on this river, "the water got bumpy!"
We can also ferry vehicles with us for most of the trip depending on where we end up camping. IF we camp at Comptons, a beautiful spot, we cannot have vehicles with us there. We will, however, have to arrange to relay vehicles from the start to the end, obviously. So sign up is important.
Of note, there will be none of the usual group meals on this trip. Because of the nature of this trip, it will be more akin to backpacking meals. Everybody carries their own. The river water can be filtered and used, I have done so with a Sawyer mini. However, we will have vehicles for, at least some of the trip.

Ok, I am getting into to many details here. If you have questions, ask. Otherwise, here is here sign up sheet. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...p=sharingCorey

Unfortunately, I was unable to make it to the spring hang. Hopefully I will be able to make it to this summer hang.

Hey Corey. Can you take a quick moment to explain how you envision the car shuffle working? I apparently had to attend a last minute meeting while you were discussed the trip as a whole at the hang. My wife mentioned something about ferry drivers as we float along and no need to haul your gear in your yak? Is she mistaken?

Last time I did it I did haul my gear but it struck me then, it could be done with the gear going by car.
When we start, we run a couple of cars to the next stopping point and bring the drivers back. That evening, those drivers run people back to get their vehicles from the start point. Next morning, same procedure. Repeat until finished.
We did it with the vehicles last two times I went. Works nicely.
