This sounds like a good trip.

I will be on a motorcycle trip the two weeks prior to this but will mention this to the wife and see if she if she would like to do this outing. It's been to long sense either of the canoes have been in the water.

It's the same with us. I have two canoes and a kayak which rarely get used!

Well, as this trip gets closer I must confess some apprehension. It shall be the first lengthy canoe trip for, not one but, two dogs.
My old chocolate lab Elsie May (behave, then again she May not), was a true "water dog" and a downright sailor, in a canoe. I could rely on her to help me balance the boat, fetch a lost paddle, and get me a cold one from the cooler. Ok, the last one was a bit much, she would guzzle the cold one herself!
Alas, Elsie died almost 4 years ago.
Now we have Spotty Will (misbehave) and Molly (by golly), two landlubber mutts if ever I saw them.
I foresee lots of water in my future.

Firebug Spotty dog enjoying some campfire Tv. Careful Spotty, don't singe your whiskers off, again!

It's always rough doing an old activity without an old friend. I'm sure both dogs will do great!

Ok, three weeks out! Just a bump here to remind folks and get some discussion going.
Tammy and I are getting things together for the trip. We had planned on doing some canoeing, with the dogs, at Smoked Butt last weekend but we did not make it down there sooooo.....Perhaps we shall be up at Maidens this Saturday? Someplace nice and calm to introduce the pups to the new boat. LOL

I am interested in going, but am new to kayaking. Just bought my first kayak this week. You said that the rapids were not too bad, so I am assuming that this trip would be somewhat beginner friendly?

In my opinion, it is. People float this river on floats and inner tubes.
You might want to make sure and avoid Comptons rapids though. That is easy enough.
