So which is the better choice? That is the question I set out to answer. I think I came up with my answer during my short time with the pair of them. (I've had the CF since August) Hammock Gear recently released more options for their Gear Sleeves, which are a single snakeskin for your tarp, or possibly your hammock. I use them for my tarps. Good stuff! I used my Hammockgear mesh skins for the first time on a trip this past weekend. I'm sold! I may even switch out my 2-piece Mountain Goat sleeves on my other tarp since the 1-piece is the way to go IMO.
I like mesh no matter the brand since it seems easier to purge the air when packing.
How small do they pack with an 11' or 12' tarp?

I just stuff the whole thing back into the stuff sack my tarp came with. I don't notice the extra bulk at all; in fact, it's easier since the tarp is now contained in the sleeve. Now that it's back in the stuff sack, that can easily be smashed anywhere in my pack to fill any voids.Originally Posted by QuietStorm
