Nice review. However, I don't think mesh provides any noticeable advantage for drying out the tarp. Only the outside 4 or 5 inches of tarp is exposed to air through the mesh. The rest of the waterproof tarp is rolled up, and isn't getting any more air than the tarp rolled up inside cuben fiber.

No one is disputing that. They are saying moisture stays inside the cf skins and can be a pain to dry out.

Exactly. I get my tarp mostly dry anyway before stuffing. When using the mesh that's already dry itself, there's no "droplets" of water anywhere...just overall damp at best. With the cuben, it was still wet to the point where I could pour out some water when I got home. It just collects and stays in there...come on, they make waterproof drybags out of cuben.

Great video, thank you! The only problem I see is that I've just added another item to my list of things to order for my hammock.....

One advantage to the CF snakeskins that might be overlooked is the superior durability. It's also nice to not have to worry about my tarp touching the ground, catching on something, or falling in mud while setting up the tarp in a hurry, because the CF snakeskin will protect my pricey tarp from snags better than the mesh.

Just another thing to consider while choosing.

There definitely seem to be a lot of advantages to the mesh skins as well. Knowing me, I will probably own both at some point

Just ordered their Xenon skins. Saved a few bucks. I think they'll perform in particular with the cuben. As soon as I have them I'll let you know.

That was one of the things I was going to follow up with after a while using both. I am curious about the durability of the mesh, but so far it hasn't seemed to snag on things, so we'll see.

So far I've had these (the mesh) on my tarp for the past 4-5 months with no problems what so ever. In fact, I just ordered another set for my new 12' tarp.
