Question Premium Line after Econ Line?

Curious to see if you guys believe HammockGear would be interested in going down the lane of a premium product line after their successful launch of the Econ line?

Product line would be basically the same but feature 900FP or 950FP down and/or possibly lighter fabric if available.

Might be of interest to the gram-weenies out there. Do you guys think there is a market for this?

My take is it may be worthwhile if the fabric used is also state-of-the art and also the lightest out there.
Is there any suitable fabric available besides the premium fabric already used in the original Incubator series?

    Cuben and 1000FP

The Montbell Plasma jackets come to mind. 1000FP inside a 7 denier fabric (25g per sq meter). Fragile, but certainly doable for an underquilt.

Isn't Cuben a tad noisy for sleeping?

Yeah I don't know if it would be a good UQ material. Someone made one, showing it in one of shugs videos. I think that 7 denier nylon would be the best since it's already used for down jackets.

Not sure if there's a big market, but you never know. I'm guessing a custom option wouldn't hurt. Some people are always working to cut ounces and grams.

Cuben would be totally fine (& not too noisy) in this application. EE and HG did it at various times.

Do you happen to know why they stopped? Costs were too high?

I have seen one of Shug's video with some cuben material but that did not really appeal to me for some reason.
My cuben dry bags and stuff sacks are not very much breathable and I wonder if a TQ/UQ would feel a bit too clammy - should not be a factor for an UQ though. Not dreamy soft enough for me maybe :-)

Now a higher fill power might enable an ounce or so of weight saving for a 20F and 30F quilt.

You wouldn't use cuben for the shell, you'd use it for the baffles. Zpacks does this I believe.

apparently at one point HG offered cuben fiber as an inner shell option

Not sure I'd want to know how much larger the quilt would compress down to with a cuben shell. It's bad enough with my Cuben Hex tarp.

Quilts need to breathe, thus wouldn't use cuben. If you're already using a vapor barrier, then perhaps it makes sense to have quilts that don't breathe. Most of us don't due to comfort.
