    EGL - Valens Apr 8-9

I thought i would start a thread and maybe others can add some pics - but being the big-ol introvert that I am, I'm not always for social gatherings (I just need my space sometimes) and so for me, this group is perfect. Nap if you wanna nap, go for a walk if you wanna, sit together if you wanna, or wander away from the group for a bit. Everyone is welcome to share whatever is on the community table.
I'm sure many other groups can claim similar, at least hope they would. I can only speak from my experiences and specifically this one.

I wanted to say that after I got home, I was all a-smiles, and my wife asked how I enjoyed my trip. (Now between my visiting a couple hangs and meeting folks, and then staying the night as first EGL group hang) I looked at her and said..." I think I found my people". She smiled too.

I really did enjoy being out there. Great company, good food, and lots of knowledge and gear show and tell. i'm sure others can recount a properly presented 'trip report'.

Thank you all who were there for making a great weekend. Good call Highboy - very, very, glad I came out.

Keep trying to make one of these but never seem to get the timing right. Just going to have to knuckle down and commit, come heck or high water. Glad you got out and enjoyed yourself.

Thanks Highboy for initiating, thanks Hanging Canuck for claiming our space and thanks to everyone for their show and tell. So many great ideas and so much great gear!

Looking forward to the next Hammo-Con...

Speaking of Hammo-Con,there is a gathering of hammockers called HangCon. HangCon 17 is in the Ocala National Forest in Florida. I'm going to attend and would love it if any of the EGL would like to join me. What's not to like about getting out of the dead of Winter and hangin in nice temps with palm trees and sand with hundreds of other like minded people. I like Winter camping but it's pretty cool to get away from it for a few days and relax in the tropics.

Thanx for the kind words but its the hangers who make the hang.

I appreciate all who came out on such short notice, new friends and old friends alike. I learned that I must buy a cast iron dutch oven! I've seen way too many delicious meals prepared in them. LMB's pineapple ribs and Niagaras breakfast special. Mmmmmm Thanks guys.
Of course the gear show and tell will most likely cost me as usual.Must have camo tarp. Did a little trading and now I own a LSOH hammock,in marpat camo no less.
    Good times had by all.
No signs,no fees,no rules, nobody. My kind of campsite.

You guys are killing me. Sorry I couldn't attend. 76highboy is right, the hangers make the hang and I always have a good time on these get-togethers. Until the next one!

What a great time. Approaching a group of strangers usually initiates concern. That was gone in the first second I walked over and said "I see hammocks, this must be the place. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming but never overbearing. Heather has been on trips where she's the only female and was fine with that. I have one of the special ones lol. Thanks so much to LMB for supplying a UQ ensuring her first overnighter was a success. Thank you also for the delicious ribs and pineapple. Niagara - thank you for your hit the spot breakfast. You both are the cause of more money being spent on our camping addiction. She is already pricing out Lodge Dutch ovens. Highboy76- thank you for the oatmeal pie (adorned with a hammock of course) and those Portuguese tarts. A definitely unexpected treat while camping. It was nice meeting and sharing stories and knowledge with all of you. I only have a few pictures of the setups I will try to upload from phone. Arrived strangers, left friends and hope to meet again soon.DSC_0438.jpgDSC_0439.jpgDSC_0441.jpg
