    Compared: HyperD 300 vs Dutch 300D Pack Material

    I ordered a bit of both of these fabrics for a backpack project (straps and bottom material) I'm about to begin, and figured I would share some photos here if anyone else was unsure how they differed (the photos from both websites make them look very similar despite their weights).

    Black = Dutchware's 300D Pack Material @2.7oz/sqyd and Grey = HyperD 300 from ripstopbytheroll @3.9oz/sqyd.

    The HyperD has a visibly tighter ripstop and an understably stiffer feel (albeit slightly). The coating appears comparable on both. Likely I will end up using the HyperD on the bottom and the "pack material" on the outside of the straps.

    I'll let y'all know how they cut & sew once I start.

    Also notable that the dutch fabric is a whole 1.2 oz sq/yd lighter than hyperD 300.

    Thanks - I edited that in with links as I was having trouble on mobile since I had to post through my phone for photos.

    Oops, this ought to also be in fabrics (d'oh).

    Looking forward to this. I've used HyperD 300 a lot, including for pack projects, but I've never held Dutch's 300D. I have to admit, I do like that HyperD 300 comes in a nice variety of colors.

    Definitely the pack cloth from Dutch but the difference isn't major by any means. I would assume this is a product of the "looser" ripstop (fewer diamonds per square inch).
