    Fur as under insulation?

So I do various re-enactment related things, including Viking and others in a similar time period, and sheepskin is often used not just as a cover, but underneath to stay warm when sleeping. It seems to insulate well, even though compressed when laying on it, on the ground, and I have used it on a cot, as well as sitting in a Sky chair. So what are the thoughts of using it in a hammock? Clearly not for lightweight backpacking, but in situations where the weight/size isn't as much a consideration?

Similarly, wool blankets work good, but wool blankets are very heavy.

I know a few that swear by sheepskin for winter hangs, and am looking for one myself because of them. Winter usually means a pulk so weight and bulk are less of a concern.

LOL I'm not thinking for re-enactment where I need to be period accurate when I sleep as well. More leisure or when I work ren fairs.

    Recently unearthed.

No Viking should be without their hammock and Ulfberht.
