I used the kam snaps to attach the modded down throw to my Wilderness Logic Summer series.

The major thing I gained from some practice is that on thin fabric there will be too much of the plastic spike extending thru the backing piece. This will result in too much plastic inside the female piece which will obstruct the closing of the snaps. What I did was after placing the spike side thru the fabric and the female half trim the excess plastic of the spike with a set of old nail clippers. This reduces the amount of plastic to be compressed inside the female connector. The male side didn't seem to make much difference but just got into the habit of pressing the two component with the fabric between as tight as possible by hand, trimming the spike, setting the snap with the tool. No problems with the snaps connecting properly after using this method.
