Face Gets Cold During Chilly Nights

    Hello everyone,

I was floating like a dream the other night but the cold on my face caused me to wake up. I'm sure that if I had installed my tarp it would have eliminated the problem (there was a slight breeze out), but I like having a view of the sky across my bug netting. Does anyone have a practical solution for this?

For me, it all depends on the nightime temps. Winter trips I'll have on my down bomber hat and put my down puffy coat behind my head, flip it forward and cover up most of my face then just vent so I'm comfortable. I'll also do the same thing with my extra fleece pullover when it's a little warmer.

I asked the same question a while back and the consensus was to get a balaclava which I did and it worked great.

Oh interesting. Balaclava would probably be a good fix to this problem. Thanks!

Another very nice option is one of the new balaclava that holds the hot hands in the neck area. I bought one of these this year and I love it.

I have a $5 fleece beenie that i just roll the brim down to my nose.

If extra cold, i also carry a neck-gaiter that rolls up to my nose.

If you don't do what Goat recommended I just have a wind breaker barclava (not really insulated..just to help wind) that is made for riding motorcycles and utility vehicles and suck. I wore that so it wasn't hot and kept the cold wind off my face, worked marvelously and didn't overheat. If my head actually got cold I'd throw a beanie over it. Called a scorpion barclava if you look it up. It's also considered a helmet liner. I got it for riding my GSXR in chilly weather
