I just got my new Raven last week, but still haven't had a chance to string it up and try it out! I did bring it 6000 miles across the Pacific, though.

Personally, I am a devotee of using an inflatable pad in my Raven (expeds down and synmats). Since you are not, perhaps you could use an underquilt protector (UQP) or a psuedo-UQP to provide the protection. In addition, Ravens can come in two layered versions. Perhaps you could sell yours and purchase a two layer version. Just thinking.
Alexandria? Thats farm country, consider yourself lucky you were not in Northern MN, up here we build our homes in the high part of the swamps.
As the little ones have just started to hatch, these were just caught on Squad cams the other day.

That being said, All my stuff gets treated with permethrin, Skeeters, deer flies, horse flies, and don't forget the ticks...
FYI, we got 1.5 inches of snow yesterday..
The only thing we got going for us up here IS the cold, it keeps the snakes, scorpions, and weak spiders away...
I have a Hex70 hammock as well, but haven't had it out in skeeter season. How does the thicker material hold up to the little biters?
I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.
Firemedic that is great. The little ones have started to hatch
